ECASARD is an ecumenical association arising from the Christian principles through its initial roots of the churches development projects. ECASARD was established in 1991 and is effectively operational in 11 regions of Ghana: Savannah; Bono East; Bono; Ahafo; Ashanti; Eastern; Western North; Western; Volta; Central; and Greater Accra Regions. However, members from the other regions: Oti; Northern; North East; Upper East, and Upper West are welcome to affiliate with ECASARD.
ECASARD builds the capacity of its network membership organizations of small scale producers to adopt participatory approaches and promote Sustainable Agricultural and Rural Development technologies and income generating activities. We focus on scalable interventions which can influence agricultural policy favorably through advocacy and lobbying.
Our logo is a traditional Adinkra symbol of a bird with its head turned backwards. It symbolizes taking from the past what is good and bringing it into the present in order to make positive progress through the use of indigenous knowledge. Thus ECASARD aims at improving rather than displacing indigenous knowledge.
Transparency and Accountability
Value for Money
Equitable wealth creation for All
ECASARD envisages that small scale producers (Farmers and processors) have full access to appropriate information and capacity building, which serves their production systems and other sources of income, fully supported by favourable policies by key institutions that will enhance their living standards.
ECASARD as a network organization seeks to reinforce and enhance the efforts of its members in SARD activities through Gender sensitive networking, Capacity building and Advocacy in collaboration with other stakeholders
Our ultimate goal is to enhance increased food production and reduce rural poverty by promoting innovations that are economically viable, socially just, culturally acceptable and ecologically sound.
ECASARD is governed by a board that supervises and directs the activities of the National Secretariat. The National Secretariat is in charge of implementing programmes and administration
